RENT CONTROL
● A renter’s “bill of rights” that includes compensation for displacement due to rent increases and prohibits evictions during the school-year and in the winter months.
● Major public housing investment with a goal to make 50% of the market high-quality, income-based units i.e. social housing.
● Empower non-profits like community land trusts to provide housing at affordable rates.
● Adopt a Housing First approach with no prerequisites for access to public housing to address homelessness.
● Grant legal status to tenant unions and create a National Tenant Relations Board.
● Combat speculation via land value tax reform.
UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE
● Free single-payer universal healthcare available to everyone, regardless of status.
● Fund clinics and hospitals in medical deserts.
● Support urban farmers, community gardens, and collectively-owned grocery stores in food deserts.
● Education requirements for medical professionals on racial disparities and social determinants of health.
● Programs targeted at youth to increase the number of Black medical professionals.
NO STUDENT DEBT
● Purchase and forgive all student debt.
● Reinstate and expand tuition-free state and community colleges across the country.
● Free vocational training and trade schools.
fIGHT FOR $25
● Raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $25 an hour and index future increases to inflation.
● Require service industry workers to be paid the full minimum wage in addition to tips.
● Institute a 32-hour workweek without reducing base pay or benefits, and promote a transition to a four-day schedule
ABOLISH ICE
● Dismantle ICE, an agency weaponized against American civic liberties, communities of color, and local economies.
● A complete overhaul of the immigration system, which includes a new amnesty, transfer of courts to the federal judiciary, and more efficient processes.
● Replace CBP with TSA at ports of entry, and assign drug smuggling and human trafficking enforcement to DEA & FBI.
● An inclusive, multilateral program that fosters cooperation, job creation, and economic prosperity across the Americas.
STOP THE GENOCIDE
● Cut all funding and end all military and intelligence cooperation with states that engage in war crimes and genocide.
● Support pro-BDS legislation and promote enforceable peace processes based on secularism and a single, shared system of governance.
● Protect the civil rights of Arab and Muslim-Americans, South Asian Americans, and the African diaspora.
DEMOCRACY AT WORK
● Mandatory union recognition when 50% of authorization cards are signed.
● Increase NLRB fines and penalties for labor violations.
● Legalize and standardize worker-owned cooperatives.
● Public banks to support cooperative development and community investment.
● Build a legal framework for social cooperatives in the non-profit sector.
GREEN TRANSITION
● Fund a full transition to a decarbonized economy powered by 100% renewable energy.
● Promote publicly-owned, community-controlled energy production.
● Invest in electric, high-speed, mass transit systems capable of replacing car commuting and air travel.
● Comprehensive AI regulations that include thorough environmental and economic impact assessments for data centers.
● Integrate energy grids across the Americas and develop a shared energy initiative with South America, one of the regions with the world’s highest potential for green energy production.
END THE CARCERAL STATE
● Eliminate private prisons and detention centers.
● Ban mandatory minimum sentencing in federal cases and restore greater judicial discretion.
● Treat drug possession and use as public health issues; decriminalize victimless offenses.
● End incarceration for technical violations of probation and parole that do not involve new criminal conduct.
● Legalize marijuana federally and ensure cannabis dispensaries have access to banking services.
EQUITY & OPPORTUNITY
● Codify into law the right to bodily autonomy and access to abortion.
● Expand African American history curricula in schools.
● Defend LGBTQIA+ rights and protect gender affirming care.
● Reparations for descendants of American slavery and segregation.
● Support indigenous landback and tribal stewardship.
● Recognize ALL tribal nations, including New Jersey’s Lenape communities.
fAIR TAX REFORM
● Shift the burden of taxation to the top 1% of earners and eliminate income taxes for middle and lower income households.
● Eliminate taxes on productive profits in favor of economic rent and unearned income i.e. monopoly profits, windfall gains, land value rent, and royalties from natural resources.
● Cut the military budget by two-thirds, currently the highest in the world, and progressively shut down more than 700 overseas bases to pay for social programs.
● Fund local schools and after-school programs at the federal level rather than through property taxes.
28TH AMENDMENT
● A constitutional amendment to allow the public to directly petition for and vote on constitutional amendments via referendum.
